About
HIT-VILab
VILab was founded by Dr. Wen Gao after he went back to Harbin Institute of Technology since the early 1990s. The main research directions of the laboratory include digital audio and video codec, multi-functional sensing technology, multi-modal human-computer interaction, face recognition, sign language recognition, two-dimensional code, and multi-modal data retrieval.
Digital codec research has been leading research institutions and enterprises. In AVS, many places have made achievements beyond MPEG standard and won the second prize of national science and technology progress award. Face recognition and sign language recognition also won the second prize of national science and technology progress award.
In recent years, we have made major progress in visual perception, including a series of achievements in attention model, semantic expression of bottom, middle and upper vision. Moreover, we have made deep accumulation in emotional expression, motion recognition, posture capture, anomaly detection, and 3D object reconstruction. We also conduct highlight works in intelligent education and agriculture.
